
Our military days are some of the most historic fixtures in Sandown Park’s calendar, attended by many members of the armed forces, with hunt parades and stirring music provided by big military bands.
Royal Artillery Gold Cup Day - Friday 13 February 2009
The keynote race of this inspiring day is the Royal Artillery Gold Cup, first run in 1863. Only horses that are owned or leased by those who are serving, or have served, in the Royal Artillery are eligible to enter. There’ll also be the opportunity to raise funds to support deserving individuals in our armed forces.

Grand Military Gold Cup Day - Friday 6 March 2009
The Grand Military Gold Cup dates back to 1841 and has a strong tradition of thrilling races featuring some of our best amateur riders.
The Queen Mother had five winners in the race and a statue of one of her most successful horses, Special Cargo, stands in front of the Weighing Room at Sandown Park, overlooking the Winners’ Enclosure.
