11/03/2011

He is one of Britain’s greatest singers and has enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning six decades and this summer he is coming Sandown Park Racecourse to perform live after racing on Wednesday 27th July – introducing the one and only SIR TOM JONES.

Tom Jones is one of Wales’ best known exports who started his singing career when he was very young.  His first single  "It's Not Unusual" launched in 1965 shot to No1 and made him a player in the swinging music scene of the 1960s. The same year he scored hits with the movie themes to What's New, Pussycat? and the James Bond film Thunderball.

Tom’s powerful voice has sold over 100 million records and his latest blues and gospel inspired album Praise & Blame (2010) hit No 2 in the charts, receiving the best reviews of his career.  Critics across the world are unanimous in their approval and admiration for both the recorded work and the performance of it in concert.  “Jones delivers with such gusto that the rafters really seem to rattle….and yet it’s a testament to his prowess as an entertainer that he can pull it off with such aplomb.” The Guardian

Jones, who was awarded an OBE in 1999, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 at Buckingham Palace for his services to music.

Tom Jones, said “This is my first performance at a London racecourse in the UK and I am very much looking forward to it.  I really love this show - I do some of the classic hits of course, some songs from my latest album Praise & Blame as well as some surprise stuff. Come and have a great time after the races!…look forward to seeing you in July.”
