STRENGTH & DEPTH IN THE BET365 GOLD CUP AT SANDOWN PARK

At the initial forfeit stage a total of 41 horses have stayed in the 2008 bet365 Gold Cup with the Alan King-trained Halcon Genelardais set to carry top weight should he run on Saturday 26 April 2008 at Sandown Park. Alan King has also left D’Argent in the race.
Other notable horses that have stayed in the Grade 3 contest which is now in its 52nd year, include the Paul Nicholls-trained Royal Auclair, which is owned by Clive Smith, and Hoo La Baloo and Le Duc, which are both owned by Andy Stewart.
Grand National fifth placed Bewleys Berry and Backbeat are both still in for Howard Johnson and Graham Wylie, with Racing Demon representing Henrietta Knight.
Ireland still has an in depth and competitive looking contingent with the Patrick Hughes-trained Point Barrow, the Tony Martin trio of Patsy Hall, Royal County Star and Newbay Prop and the Martin Brassil-trained Pay It Forward.
Grand National winning trainer, David Pipe, has left in four horses in Vodka Bleu, Joaaci, My Immortal and Not Left Yet.
