Sandown Park is delighted to announce that “simply” one of the finest bands in the country, Simply Red, will be performing songs from their new Greatest Hits album at the racecourse live after racing on Wednesday 22 July 2009.
The 2008 music nights at Sandown Park proved hugely popular with a sell out crowd of 15,000 for both the Girls Aloud concert held in July and the Madness concert in August. The mix of racing and live music works extremely well for the racecourse and 2009 is already looking to be a year packed full of entertainment and top class racing.
Simply Red are about to embark on a world tour performing songs from their greatest hits album Simply Red 25 which was launched in November 2008. With a career spanning over twenty five years in the music industry, the concert will enable racegoers to see this legendary band, led by the silky voice of Mick Hucknall, step onto the Sandown Park stage to serenade what looks set to be a very special concert, live at the South-East’s most popular racing venue.
Mick Hucknall’s Simply Red have been serving up hit after hit for years, right from their first hit single Money’s Too Tight (To Mention), through to Holding Back The Years, If You Don’t Know Me By Now, Stars and Fairground.
The Simply Red history has seen many a band member leave and join, but the one person who represents the band and has been there from the start is Mick Hucknall. Having been on the mic for the whole history of the band, Hucknall’s dulcet tones are synonymous with Simply Red and if you’ve never seen him or the band live on stage then make sure the evening of Wednesday 22 July is firmly in your diary.

Prices for the racing and concert start at £25 for Grandstand admission and £30 for Premier Admission when booked in advanced. Children aged 9 and under priced a £5 with children aged 10-16 just £15.
