ROA GOLD AWARD
SANDOWN PARK RACECOURSE RECEIVE THE ROA GOLD STANDARD AWARD
Sandown Park Racecourse joined the prestigious ranks of ROA Gold Standard Award racecourses with a formal presentation ceremony at the Surrey course on Saturday 8 December 2007. The award recognises overall excellence in the raceday experience for owners, their horses and stable staff.
ROA Council member and Gold Standard Committee member Sally Rowley-Williams presented the commemorative plaque to the racecourse executive during racing on paddypower.com Tingle Creek day. This high profile setting is a fitting testament to the importance that the course places upon the award.
Sandown Park’s prize-money for the past twelve months stands at £3.5million. Their executive and sponsorship contributions for the same period amount to 40.4% of their overall prize-money pool. Their average prize-money per fixture for the past twelve months, as listed in the Racing Post’s statistical tables, is £187,291, putting them fourth among the Category A courses. Sally Rowley-Williams said: “Sandown Park is a super course with tremendous infrastructure and resources. We are thrilled that it has demonstrated its commitment to become an ROA Gold Standard course and we congratulate the entire team on their dedication and thank them for their effort."
David Mackinnon, Managing Director at Sandown Park Racecourse, said: “The whole team at Sandown Park are delighted that their hard work has been rewarded by winning the ROA Gold Standard. This is a great recognition of the high standard of facilities and services we constantly aim to provide owners, trainers, horses and stable staff when visiting the course.”
