QUALITY FIELD OF 8 ENTERED FOR CORAL-ECLIPSE AT SANDOWN PARK

27/06/2011

A quality field of eight have been confirmed ahead of the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park Racecourse on Saturday 2nd July, 2011.  Aidan O’Brien leads the charge with four entries in the race, led by So You Think who was last seen in action at Royal Ascot in the Group 1 Prince of Wales Stakes when beaten a neck by Rewilding.

The five-year-old could be joined by stablemates Cape Blanco, Jan Vermeer and Alexander Pope, who is the only three-year-old in the field.

The 2010 Investec Derby winner, Workforce, is an intended runner in the race which will be his second start this season, following a win over course and distance just over a month ago in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes on the 26th May. He will be joined by stablemate Confront for handler Sir Michael Stoute.

Roger Varian enters Sri Putra who was second behind Twice Over in last year’s Coral-Eclipse.  Finally Ed Dunlop enters the 2010 Investec Oaks winner, Snow Fairy following unsuitable ground conditions which forced her to miss an intended re-appearance in the Pretty Polly Stakes last weekend.

The ground is currently on the fast side of Good according to Clerk of the Course, Andrew Cooper, who reported: “We have been dry here since Friday evening. Much will now depend going-wise on the volume of rain we receive on Monday night from the forecast heavy showers. No decision on watering will be made until we can take stock on Tuesday morning.”

Betting with Coral for the race is as follows:  So you Think 5/4, Workforce 6/4, Snow Fairy 6/1, Cape Blanco 14/1, Sri Putra 25/1, Alexander Pope 33/1, Jan Vermeer 33/1, Confront 50/1.
