NOVAE ANNOUNCE MULTI SPONSORSHIP AT SANDOWN PARK

31/01/2012

An exciting card awaits at Sandown Park this Saturday 4 February, including the Betfred Contenders Hurdle, where the 2010 Champion Hurdle winner Binocular, has been entered along with seven other strong competitors, including Starluck, who hasn’t been seen on a racecourse since last year’s Grand National Meeting. He is returning to hurdles having been novice chasing last year.

The other big race of the day, the Grade 1 Challengers Novices’ Chase, won last year by Medermit, also has eight entries, including Cristal Bonus, from the Paul Nicholls yard, who has only had three starts since being bought from France, but won on his last start at Chepstow. Baile Amrai in another coming into the race with winning form, having won twice this season, and For Non Stop has previous form at the Esher course, having been beaten by Al Ferof in early December.

In addition to this Saturday’s exciting racing at Sandown Park, this will also be the first day that Novae, which insures bloodstock, will sponsor the Owners and Trainers facilities at the Esher venue. The insurance underwriters, who have had success with similar sponsorships at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile and July Course, are one of the leading underwriters of bloodstock around the world and Bill Bevan, Bloodstock Underwriter at Novae commented, “Novae is committed to putting something back into an industry that it trades in and sponsoring the Owners and Trainers facility at Sandown Park, as well as a Listed race in June and the summer bonus, is an ideal mechanism for doing this, as well as promoting the brand within the industry.”

The deal includes the sponsorship of the Scurry Stakes in June, won last year by Margot Did, before going onto Group 1 success in the Nunthorpe Stakes, as well as the Sandown Park Summer Bonus, in association with Novae, where £100,000 is on offer for any horse than wins two races at the course, starting from 27th April, 2012 and then goes on to win the 1m2f Handicap for three year olds and upwards on 31st August.
Novae also sponsors Ted Durcan and Barry Geraghty.

David Mackinnon, Managing Director of Sandown Park added, “It is great to work with such an established branding in the industry like Novae on various different sponsorship outlets. Let’s hope the Scurry Stakes winner is of a similar calibre to last year’s winner, Margot Did!”

Tickets for the racing this Saturday start at £15 when booked in advance. For further information please visit www.sandown.co.uk or call 01372 47 00 47.
