HELP MAKE A CHILD’S DREAM COME TRUE
Christmas is a time for giving and receiving and this New Year Sandown Park Racecourse is asking their racegoers to come to the first race meeting of the year on Saturday 5 January 2008 – Tolworth Hurdle Day - bearing a gift they received for Christmas and are happy to donate to the children’s charity ‘Dreams Come True’.
Each year the racecourse teams up with a charity to donate the racegoers very generous gifts and this year ‘Dreams Come True’ will be present at the racecourse to receive any gifts that you are happy to donate. Everyday a dream is fulfilled through Dreams Come True. Since the charity was founded in 1988, they have made dreams come true for over 3,000 children and with your help we can put a smile on the faces of many more.
David Mackinnon, Managing Director of Sandown Park Racecourse says, “This raceday is a great start to the New Year and it will be wonderful to see how many racegoers leave a gift for the charity. To date, most people who work at Sandown Park have kindly agreed to donate a Christmas gift. The Tolworth Hurdle Day is a great day of racing to start off our 2008 campaign and we look forward to welcoming everyone for what will be an exciting year for us with top class jumping and flat racing.”
The Sandown Park Jump Offer is now available including an admission, a free drink and bet for only £17 in Grandstand and £24 in Premier. Background to Dreams Come True:
All children have dreams, but how many get the chance to turn their dream into reality? For every child this would be a magical moment in their lives, but for those suffering from a life-threatening illness or a long-term debilitating condition, it can have an even greater impact. Each year the Dreams Come True Charity brings a smile to the faces of hundreds of children and young adults between 2 and 21 years who are suffering from a serious or terminal illness. We aim to bring some happiness into their lives, the benefits of which are many and varied for both the children and their families popular requests include experiencing the magic of Disney and swimming with dolphins. But any dream is shaped by a child's imagination and special needs, leading to a seemingly endless range of possibilities. Some of the more 'unusual' dream requests we have recently fulfilled include having cows in the back garden, meeting long-lost relatives in Kenya and Jamaica, naming a police horse, and riding in a rally car. There is no limit to a child's imagination and severe illness should not prevent them from experiencing real quality fun and excitement. No dream is too big or too small for Dreams Come True.
