IT'S 'STRICTLY' LADIES DAY

One of the most fashionable events in the racing calendar is taking place at Sandown Park this year when the racecourse plays host to Coral-Eclipse Day, also known as Ladies Day on Saturday 3rd July and this year Camilla Dallerup, winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2008, is the ‘face’ for the day.
Camilla first came onto our screens when the first Strictly Com Dancing series was aired in 2004 and saw Camilla partnered with David Dickinson from BBC’s Bargain Hunt. During her time on Strictly she has danced with athlete Roger Black, celebrity Chef James Martin, actor Ray Fearon and presenter Gethin Jones with whom she reached the semi final. She finally became champion with actor Tom Chambers in 2008 and that was her last ever appearance on the show.
Since her dancing days on the BBC Camilla has become GMTV’s Dancing Queen getting the nation fit with over 100,000 people signing up to her diet and dance as well as appearing on Celebrity Ready Steady Cook, Celebrity Come Dine with Me, I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here and The Underdog Show where she met her now fiancé Kevin Sacre who is currently in the British soap series Hollyoaks playing Jake Dean. They are getting married in July this year a few weeks after appearing at Sandown Park.
Coral-Eclipse Day ranks among the best flat racing days in the country with the world’s top ranking horse ‘Sea the Stars’ taking the title in historic fashion in 2009. It is also the biggest social occasion on the Sandown Park calendar, as the day is also Ladies Day. There is plenty of entertainment for all female racegoers, with the competitive Best Dressed Ladies Competition which takes place prior to racing live on Channel 4, for which some fabulous prizes will be on offer. Girls can also pamper and spoil themselves in the House of Fraser Style Stable, where there will be complimentary beauty treatments, fashion tips and make up top ups, as well as a chance to rest those tired feet! The day epitomizes glamour, for both the guys and the girls, a great excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a drink of two while watching the fantastic action from the track with music and entertainment fitting to our annual style extravaganza.
Following a glamorous photoshoot on location at Sandown Park with Camilla, who was wearing a selection of outfits from House of Fraser, Guildford and hats by Bowe Blood Millinery, the images produced capture the glamour of the raceday and the contrasting element between the silks of the ladies’ dresses and the satins of the jockeys’ colours, a unique vision which captures the very essence of the Sport of Kings.
Talking about her involvement as the face of Ladies Day, Camilla commented, “I am so excited to be part of Ladies Day at Sandown Park, and I cannot wait to get dressed up and see the fashion and what others are wearing. Horse racing is such an elegant sport and we can all eat and drink and look good and enjoy an afternoon of top racing – it’s the perfect summer’s day out.”
