Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will attend Sandown Park Racecourse on Friday 8th March to celebrate the 150th running of the Grand Military Gold Cup. HRH’s has been a supporter of this day in previous years and was in attendance at the event last year at the racecourse in Esher, Surrey.
On arrival, Her Royal Highness will be greeted by Mr Gordon Lee-Steere, Vice Lord Lieutenant and Lieutenant General Sir Barney White-Spunner KCB CBE, Chairman of the Grand Military Race Committee. HRH will be visiting the wounded servicemen from Headley Court during the day, whom the racecourse entertain each year. In addition, the Royal Artillery Hunt will be parading in front of HRH will also be making trophy presentations to the winning connections of the three Military races including the Grand Military Gold Cup.
This year will see the 150th running of The Grand Military Gold Cup. The race was first run in 1841; however, some renewals of the race were lost throughout its history due to the wars.
