SANDOWN PARK APPOINTS TONY MCCOY AS AMBASSADOR FOR 2011/2012 JUMPS SEASON

Sandown Park Racecourse has signed up 16 times Champion Jockey, Tony McCoy MBE, to be their 2011/2012 Jump season ambassador. His role during the course of the season will include a race meeting preview column for the regional media, Sandown Park website and racecard. On the racedays themselves, the 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year will have a key role in bringing the racegoers closer to one of the finest jockeys ever through signing autographs, being available for photos, taking part in ‘In The Spotlight’ and his involvement in feature race presentations.
Tony McCoy commented: “Sandown Park has always been one of my favourite racecourses as I have lots of good memories of riding there. One of my favourite rides that springs to mind was winning the Imperial Cup with Blowing Wind in 1998, who went on to win the bonus at Cheltenham, but I also love riding the course in the two mile Chases, like the Grade 1 Sportingbet Tingle Creek. There is great racing at Sandown Park throughout the season, culminating in the bet365 Gold Cup and the end of season awards, which is a day I always really enjoy. I am looking forward to working with them this season.”

Sandown Park’s first Jump meeting of the season is this Saturday, 5 November 2011 in Blue Square Gentlemen’s Day.
