Simply Red went down a treat at Sandown Park as the venue was sold out for their concert, which took place after the horseracing had concluded on Wednesday 22 July 2009.
The first of three music nights in 2009, Simply Red took to the stage for over an hour in front of the packed grandstand of 16,000 racegoers which was the biggest Music Night crowd in Sandown Park’s history.
Local Surrey resident Mick Hucknall and his band had been performing worldwide for over six month as part of their final farewell tour. The tour coincided with the release of their greatest hits album, Simply 25, featuring some of their most famous songs over the 25 of being together. Hits played live at Sandown Park included "Money’s To Tight To Mention", "Fairground", "Stars" and "If You Don’t Know Me By Now".
