Treat yourself and the children to a little celeb-spotting and mark the end of the summer holidays with a day out at Sandown Park for Variety Club Day, which this year includes our first BHA Pony Races for children before racing and an appearance by the theatre production 'War Horse' as well as an exclusive Michael Morpurgo storytelling show.
Our annual Variety Club Day is always a huge draw for families and celebs alike and for over half a century, it's been a firm favourite among seasoned race-goers and children of all ages - including many grown-up ones! The important purpose of the day is to raise much-needed funds to improve the lives of many sick, disabled and disadvantaged children throughout Great Britain with £1 of each ticket sale going straight to the Variety Club.
As always at this ultimate family day, there'll be plenty of complimentary entertainment planned with games galore, a pet zoo and a visit from Nick Jr's Dora the Explorer and Diego at intervals throughout the day. The award-winning Michael Morpurgo will be telling stories in his inimitable way and introducing one of the spectacular puppets from his play, now a smash hit theatre production, War Horse. Michael will be delighting fans with a one hour storytelling performance in the Solario Suite prior to racing at 12.30pm*, as well as signing books during the afternoon. War Horse will also be here displaying their sensational puppet from the production.
Children can also enjoy a Sparkie Snack Pack for lunch from the Food Court for just £5.
*Access to the Michael Morpurgo show is strictly limited to Variety Club Day ticket holders who have also purchased a £5 ticket to enter the show (per adult or child). These can be purchased online.
