“"Sandown Park... retains so much of what made it special when I first went aged eight. It has great access, viewing and atmosphere and the big days really sing while the quieter ones feel like they've been staged just for you".”John Hunt, Commentator and Broadcaster

The Tingle Creek Christmas Festival is a festive jump racing tradition, attracting the sport’s leading horses and jockeys to Sandown Park. The Saturday, Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase Day, is the pinnacle of our jump season, featuring the Grade 1 Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase, which is named after one of the most famous horses of the 1970's.
The charasmatic Tingle Creek loved Sandown Park, winning numerous times here and in total he won 23 races over a stellar career. The sight of him taking a fence at full-stretch was really something to behold as he was a spectacular jumper, often trailblazing from the front. The race now named in his honour has been won by numerous champions over the years including the legendary Kauto Star, Desert Orchid and Moscow Flyer and this year’s race is set to be a particularly strong renewal, with the tantalising prospect of a clash between rising stars Sprinter Sacre and Sanctuaire.
Named after one of the great equine stars of the 1970’s, the Tingle Creek Christmas Festival is something of a festive jump racing tradition and one of the premier fixtures of the season. This year’s renewal of the meeting’s feature race, Saturday’s Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase, is set to be particularly thrilling thanks to the tantalising prospect of a clash between rising stars Sprinter Sacre and Sanctuaire.
Off the course, there are plenty more seasonal treats to look forward to, just look at what's in our sack of Christmas Festival goodies:
Kauto Star will parade before racing in the paddock at 11.45am and then again before the Tingle Creek Chase as he leads the runners into the parade ring.
Accompanied children under 18 go free and there’s a complimentary crèche so be sure to put the date in the family diary and book in advance for great adult ticket savings!
